Beautiful lakeside scenery meets a diverse selection of unique and inspiring music. Bayern trifft Taiwan is a musical journey blending Bavarian and Taiwanese folk traditions. Through marimba and percussion, Lee und Lang brings together different musical cultures and transforms them into a contemporary musical dialogue. The program features original compositions connecting minimalist Bavarian folk sounds with traditional Taiwanese melodies.

ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE

Percussion-Duo Lee und Lang

With marimba and various percussion instruments, the duo Lee and Lang brings together classical works, contemporary music, and a wide range of percussion sounds. In addition to performing existing works, the duo creates its own arrangements and compositions, connecting different musical traditions and cultural backgrounds. Their performances have taken them to festivals and cultural events such as Musiksommer Königsbronn, Sommer in Rosenheim, and Sommer Dahoam. Founded 2016.

THE ARTISTS

MIN-TZU LEE

MIN-TZU LEE

Percussion / Marimba

The Taiwanese percussionist and marimba player Min-Tzu Lee completed her Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in 2017 with highest honors. As a soloist and chamber musician, she works across classical, contemporary, and interdisciplinary music. In 2016, she founded the percussion duo Lee and Lang with Franz Lang. She is also a member of the internationally acclaimed Ensemble Feuervogel.

FRANZ LANG

Percussion / Marimba

Franz Lang began studying drums at the age of eight at the Rosenheim Music School and won first prize at the regional “Jugend musiziert” competition in 2009. After studying at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in percussion in 2017 and his Master’s degree in Elemental Music Pedagogy in 2020. In 2023, he presented his own compositions in the percussion project “Reborn. ”As a versatile percussionist, he focuses on contemporary music, premieres, improvisation, and film music, performing internationally as a soloist and chamber musician.

A Musical Dialogue Between Bavaria and Taiwan

A Musical Dialogue Between Bavaria and Taiwan

Percussion duo Lee & Lang, formed by Min-Tzu Lee and Franz Lang, brings together musical inspirations from Bavarian and Taiwanese folk traditions for their performance at the Ammersee Festival. The program combines original compositions by Franz Lang with Taiwanese folk songs newly arranged by guest musician Wencheng Lee, giving traditional melodies a fresh musical perspective.

Musical expressions from the Alpine region intertwine with Taiwanese folk melodies and minimalist sound aesthetics, creating a cross-cultural dialogue that connects tradition with the contemporary, and Bavaria with Taiwan.
